How Movie Premieres is built

Movie Premieres lists the films currently in cinemas and coming soon, with synopsis, runtime, cast, director, trailers and image galleries. It is a SwiftUI app built on a Redux-style unidirectional data flow over The Movie Database API.

Architecture

SwiftUI views bound to a single app store through SwiftUIFlux: actions describe what happened, reducers produce new state, and views re-render from that state.

  1. State

A central AppState with dedicated reducers per domain, dispatched through SwiftUIFlux.

  2. Services

A URLSession + Codable client for TMDB endpoints, with async actions fetching and dispatching results.

  3. UI

SwiftUI views split into shared components and modifiers, bridging to UIKit where needed (web content, onboarding).

  4. Monetisation

Google Mobile Ads via SPM, SwiftyStoreKit for the purchase, and iCloud for syncing user data.

Engineering highlights

Redux in SwiftUI

A predictable, testable state container that predates Observation and keeps views free of fetching logic.

Hybrid dependency management

Swift Package Manager for modern SDKs alongside CocoaPods for legacy UIKit components.
